SURROUNDED by mountains and the sea, Yantian District of Shenzhen enjoys a superior natural environment.

Its urban construction blends harmoniously with the mountains and the sea.

After years of development, the district has a solid tourism and jewelry industry. A number of high-end tourism, cultural, and supporting projects are in operation.

They include OCT East, the Sheraton Dameisha Resort Hotel Shenzhen, the Interlaken OCT Hotel, the Shenzhen Marina Club, and the Yantian International Creative Harbor.

Yantian is the cradle of Shenzhen’s Jewelry industry, witnessing the creation and development of a large number of gold and jewelry enterprises like Chow Tai Fook, 3D Gold, Yuehao Jewelry, Yuya Jewelry and Tonghui Jewelry.

With its mountains and sea, Yantian has climbing paths, seaside sightseeing areas, modern entertainment facilities, and beautiful seaside scenery. It also has comfortable hotels.

Visitors can also discover intangible cultural heritages here: the Shatoujiao fish lantern dance, the Dan People’s marriage customs and the kylin dance.

Tourism has gradually shifted from simple sightseeing to comprehensive packages integrating sightseeing, leisure, vacations, health, business and meetings.

With such diverse and distinctive cultures, Yantian is witnessing the growth of a cultural industry with strong local features.

OCT East aims to “let urbanites return to nature” and integrates various cultural and tourism functions including eco-tourism, leisure and recreation, and outdoor sports, balancing the coexistence between human beings and nature.

The Yantian International Creative Harbor opened in May 2013 and has become a subvenue of the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) for three years. Dozens of enterprises have made homes there. This year, the creative harbor became ICIF’s first subvenue to feature maker culture.

Gu Xiaoyu, president of fz222.com, said he moved to Yantian after his company entered the creative harbor. “We had stayed in other districts, but Yantian is the place that we do not want to leave,” said Gu.

Gu said he chose the creative harbor for its preferential policies, beautiful environment and support.

As a veteran maker, Gu took advantage of the development trend of the H5 platform, developed an online game that is free of charge for registration and download.

His company’s revenue increased by 200 percent, its customers increased from less than 1 million to more than 10 million, since it moved to the district.

“I am very satisfied with the creative culture here and will make the place home not only for my company, but also my family,” Gu said.

S. design is another enterprise that entered the harbor upon its opening. “The government has helped us a lot with rent subsidies, patent application and supporting facilities,” said Wang Yang, director of the company’s marketing and research department.

Wang said his colleagues are satisfied with the harbor’s maker culture. “There are many activities here, with different companies and ideas being exchanged here. Such exchanges always result in the creation of new ideas,” Wang said.

S. design has developed its business from design to supplying all-round services to customers’ products.
