MUSIC festivals, film panoramas and photography exhibitions will be hosted in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, China, as side events of the 12th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF), which will open in Shenzhen on May 12.

The 3rd Tomorrow Festival, an annual non-mainstream music festival, will be hosted in OCT-LOFT from May 11 to 15. One or two performances are scheduled each night, with 18 musicians from six countries to perform various styles of music, including experimental, rock, avant-garde and free jazz.

According to the festival organizer, “tomorrow” refers to a spiritual direction and implies the longing for new things and more possibilities. Apart from concerts, public lectures and documentary screenings will be hosted during the festival.

The biggest headliner band for this year is faUSt, a German krautrock band. Formed in 1971, the band improvises pop music with industrial noise, generating bizarre hypnotic grooves. Their collage of Dadaism, avant-garde rock and free improvisation has radically divided opinion from 1970 till now.

Swiss artist Feldermelder will open the festival with his sound art. He is a Max-Msp addict and a modular synth enthusiast. His influences range from the decomposed structure works of old pioneers of electronic music to more classic jazz, electronic and analog music. He will play his upcoming album “Erratic” at the festival.

A number of cultural events such as film panoramas, photography exhibitions and a creative bazaar will also be hosted in OCT-LOFT, offering visitors an opportunity to experience different genres and communicate with artists in various activities.

The Redbull Mad House Vol. 2 warehouse rave was hosted by NHECOOL at Shekou I-Factory on Saturday as a warm-up event for ICIF. Shekou I-Factory is a creative art district remodeled from an old glass factory. Some popular DJs from home and aboard, including R3HAB and Gary Tao, were invited to the party.

Other activities such as a maker fair, a pottery workshop, a drama show and a creative bazaar are also scheduled from May 12 to 16 at Shekou I-Factory in Nanshan, Shenzhen, China.
