TRADE shows and exchange camps will be hosted at Shenzhen University in Shenzhen city, China, from May 11 to 16, in a bid to encourage college students to explore the maker spirit and entrepreneurship.

As the subvenue of the 12th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF), Shenzhen University will host a trade show for Cross-Straits student makers from May 11 to 14.

Over 30 maker teams from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Shenzhen and other cities on the mainland will attend the show. Most of these makers are still in college or are fresh graduates, and the trade show will offer them an opportunity to showcase their innovative ideas and startup projects to representatives from over 20 startup incubators based in Shenzhen.

An exchange camp for Cross-Straits student makers will be hosted May 13, which will be attended by over 40 maker teams. Road shows and exchange activities will be scheduled to help maker teams obtain financial support and other resources for their projects.

Over 50 guests, including academics and entrepreneurs, will attend a seminar themed around the creative cultural industry May 12 and 13. A design contest under the theme “Design my Shenzhen University” will award the best university souvenir designs May 12.

On May 14, a fashion show will be hosted at Shenzhen University, which will display over 120 creations by outstanding graduates of the art and design college. Besides, an art exhibition showcasing 23 painters’ works at the university will be held from May 12 to 16.

Revolving around the theme of “Business Born in Fun,” Shenzhen University Creative Park will host a series of events from May 14 to 20 to support makers and startups.

A matchmaking event for makers and investors will be hosted May 14, with an 8.8-kilometer hike and treasure hunt to be arranged around Songshan Lake in Dongguan City. The winner of the treasure hunt will be offered a free office near Songshan Lake for a year.

A China-Europe startup incubator will be launched at a cultural industrial park in Liuxiandong, Nanshan District. During the launching ceremony, startups from Europe will showcase their latest products, such as a central heating processor developed by a French company and a home-use charging pole for electric cars that has gone on sale in Europe.
