Longgang : Home to Hakka culture, handicrafts

LONGGANG District in Shenzhen, home to Hakka culture and a large number of handicraft, silk, and art industries, will stage a wide variety of exhibitions, cultural events and interactive activities at its subvenues during the 12th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair.

Gankeng Hakka Town

The Gankeng Hakka Town will host a slew of activities through May 16 celebrating Hakka culture.

At the Hakka Historical Antiques Show, visitors will learn about Hakka history at Gankeng through exhibits of the articles used in the local traditional marriage ceremonies, agricultural production and tools in daily life as well as collections related to folk customs.

The Hakka Food Culture Festival will be one of most appealing events for visitors visiting Gankeng during the ICIF. Visitors will be able to learn Hakka cooking, have a taste of the Hakka cuisine and wine, while watching Hakka cultural performances.

The activity of “Returning to the Ming and Qing Dynasties” will become a highlight of the subvenue at Gankeng. Visitors will have the chance to experience the life of a Zhuangyuan, literally the number one scholar, in the Ming or Qing Dynasty (from 1368 to 1912), and get a glimpse of ancient Chinese civilization through exhibitions in a scholar’s study.

In addition, more than 20 shows will be staged at the 3rd Intangible Culture Heritage Festival at Gankeng during the ICIF.

Maker’s Fair

A fair for makers until May 15 will invite the participation of makers from across the country. Free booths are provided to makers of cultural products, innovative hardware manufacturers, open source hardware developers, 3-D printing and robot development teams or projects. They will demonstrate various projects or products. Makers who have already established their businesses in the 2013 Cultural Makers Park will also join the ICIF with their original designs.

The Cool-playing Festival, jointly hosted by the 2013 Cultural Makers Park and the Retron Space, will offer interactive programs for young people and children at Gankeng today. Interactive games with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), including UAV flying, design, as well as easy rollers monitoring and barriers crossing and interaction, will be there.

Bantian Creative Industrial Park

The Bantian Creative Industrial Park in Shenzhen will highlight cultural products that integrate the latest technologies under the theme of “culture plus science.”

Focus will be placed on industries or products such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, 3C digitalization, interactive entertainment, the Internet of Things, new media, cloud platforms, multimedia technology, animation, creative design and cross-border E-commerce.

A screening of “Teenager Astronaut,” an animation on pursuing Chinese Dream, will be held in the park. Other activities include VR and AR interactive show, intelligent robot show, industrial design show and multi-media panorama image technology show, in the purposes of building a platform for industry exchange, cooperation and businesses.

Dafen Oil Painting Village

As a subvenue of the ICIF for the past years, Dafen Oil Painting Village in Buji Subdistrict, Longgang District, Shenzhen, has played an important role in the city’s cultural industry and gained worldwide attention for its collection of art galleries.

During this year’s ICIF, 203 original oil paintings by 116 artists from around the country will be exhibited with the support of local government and the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University. Most of the participating artists are from China’s renowned art academies. In addition, a painting contest will be held in the village with the participation of 100 artists. Meanwhile, 80 photography works by 10 photographers from Heilongjiang Province will be displayed at the ICIF to present natural scenes from northeastern China.

Lijia Creative and Cultural Park

Lijia Creative and Cultural Park in Shenzhen is an important base for the country’s printing industry, providing a communication and exchange platform for the printing industry around the world.

The park will host several exhibitions until the end of May, including an exhibition on the history of printing technology, an ink and wash painting exhibition, a photograph exhibition recording the life of the Tajik people in Northwest China’s Xinjiang and a creative show for children using corrugated paper.

Sanlian Crystal, Jade and Zhongbaishi Creative Park

The Sanlian Crystal, Jade and Zhongbaishi Creative Park has become the second landmark cultural base in Longgang District of Shenzhen after nine years as a prominent subvenue of ICIF featuring crystal and jade items and high-end home decoration products.

After 30 years of development, the park has fostered a complete industrial chain covering the supply, processing, transportation and trading of crystal and jade products. There are more than 500 enterprises and workshops in the park, many of which are also committed to charitable projects.

Silk Park of China

Covering a land area of 36,000 square meters in Nanling Village in Longgang District of Shenzhen, the Silk Park of China is a national model culture base and a AAA-rated tourist resort.

The Silk Museum in the park is the country’s first privately run silk museum. With an exhibition area of 5,000 square meters, the museum now showcases silk culture from four aspects, namely, the history of silk, silk craftsmanship, silk products and silk art in four exhibition halls. In addition, embroidery works of master artists who have won national acclaim. The museum will also showcase a 15-meter scroll featuring Chinese women in cheongsam beginning May 16.

The DCC Exhibition Cultural Creative Park

The DCC Exhibition Cultural Creative Park in Shenzhen will launch a multitude of activities related to VR technology. They will demonstrate the unique glamour and application of this technology by means of the VR performance, 3-D VR panoramas, and interactive multimedia.
